E-mount AF phase detection on the focal plane for A-mount SSM and SAM

With this adapter, A-mount lenses with SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor) and SAM (Smooth Autofocus Motor) can be used with the latest E-mount cameras to take advantage of large-area focal plane AF phase detection including subject detection such as real-time eye AF (people and animals), real-time tracking and more. AF/AE trackingwith up to 11 BpS for SSM and SAM lenses

When the adapter is used with the latest E-mount bodies, the cameras' AF/AE tracking performance can also be used with A-mount SSM and SAM lenses, even when shooting at continuous speeds of up to 11 BpS. For information on compatible bodies and lenses, see the compatibility section.

Precise AF and AF/AE tracking for SSM, SAM and motorless lenses

The LA-EA5 supports all A-mount lenses, including models without internal motors such as Sonnar T* 135 mm F1.8 ZA and Planar T* 85 mm F1.4 ZA. AF phase detection on the focal plane, AF with real-time eye detection (people and animals), real-time tracking and AF/AE serial trackingare fully supported at up to 11 BpS . Compact cylindrical design and convenient operation

The slim, high-performance cylindrical lens adapter houses newly developed compact AF and iris drive units. The diameter is the same as A-mount, so nothing protrudes when used with E-mount bodies - for comfortable holding and operation even when using a vertical grip.
