A circular aperture mechanism with 11 blades contributes to a beautiful circular bokeh.

Even with the extremely shallow depth of field at 50 mm F1.2, AF is fast and precise. Four XD (eXtreme Dynamic) linear motors control the AF's large, heavy focus groups quickly and accurately. Two focus hold buttons, a focus adjustment switch, an aperture ring with switchable click-stop detent and other elements facilitate handling. Per camera, the focus hold buttons can be assigned differently. The focus ring enables linear-response manual focusing. Dust and moisture protection and the fluorine coating of the front element ensure more reliability.
