Smooth, natural bokeh effect

In addition to precise control of spherical aberration, which plays an important role in bokeh quality, the FE 20mm F1.8 G's 9-blade circular aperture also contributes to the G Series' signature smooth bokeh and natural highlights.

Realistically reproduced point sources

Two AA (advanced aspherical) elements and three ED (extra-low dispersion) glass elements reduce sagittal reflections, so point light sources are accurately reproduced without color aberration.

XD linear motors for AF speed and precise tracking

Two XD (eXtreme Dynamic) linear motors harness the potential of modern high-speed camera bodies to enable fast, precise focusing and tracking of even fast-moving subjects. New algorithms provide smooth, lag-free control of the lens' large focus group and responsive, low-vibration autofocus.

Excellent close-ups, even for selfies

20mm is an excellent focal length for selfies. In addition, the lens' minimum focus distance is just 0.19 meters in AF mode, and as close as 0.18 meters in manual focus. The lens is ideal for use with camera mounts or grips, whether for selfies or other subjects.

Precise, reliable controls

Controls such as the focus hold button, focus adjustment switch and aperture ring are conveniently positioned. If required, additional functions can be assigned to the focus hold button via the camera menu settings. To protect against water and dirt, the front lens element has a fluorine coating. The dust- and splash-resistant design ensures the necessary reliability under challenging outdoor conditions.
