High resolution due to XA and Super ED elements
The advanced optical design with elements of XA (extreme aspherical) glass, Super ED (extra-low dispersion) glass and ED glass in precision arrangement successfully corrects aberrations. The floating focus system, together with this correction, ensures the highest possible resolution over the entire focus range of the lens, right to the edge of the image.
Small depth of field with beautiful G Master Bokeh
The superior surface precision of the XA elements, the careful control of spherical aberration during the design and manufacturing stages, and the 11-blade circular aperture all combine to produce the spectacularly soft, elegant bokeh of the G Master. This allows the creative potential of the shallow depth of field of the F1.8 135mm lens to be fully exploited.
Faster, more precise and quieter autofocus thanks to dual XD linear motors on front and back
Sony's innovative XD (Extreme Dynamic) linear motors also keep portrait subjects in motion, such as stage performers, in focus ? ultra-fast, ultra-precise and ultra-reliable. All the while, AF control is quiet and virtually vibration-free.
Floating focus for better close-ups
While this is a 135-millimeter telephoto lens, the floating focus system minimizes deviations at all focus distances. This allows a minimum focus distance of 0.7 meters and magnification up to 0.25 times for close-up shots. This allows fine details and other subjects to be captured at excellent resolution with aesthetic soft background bokeh.
Great shots - and mobile, operable, reliable
The aperture ring with click stops, focus range limiter, customizable focus hold buttons, dust and moisture resistant design and the front element with fluorine coating meet professional requirements for operability and reliability for film and photo shoots.
