Optical excellence: 85mm-F1.4 lens that more than meets the high standards of the Art product line. Portrait photographers demand attractive bokeh that only large-diameter lenses offer, as well as superior resolution. Since the SIGMA 85mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art represents the high standards of the Art product line, it meets both requirements at the highest level. The extremely precise bokeh makes it possible, for example, to focus on the model's pupil while already blurring the eyelashes. In addition to this impressive bokeh, the focus range is extremely high-resolution. The SIGMA 85mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art incorporates 14 lens elements in 12 groups - a remarkable structure that brings about the lens' ultra-high resolution. As a result, this lens is an excellent choice for full-frame DSLRs with resolutions of 50 megapixels and above.
1. A design that prioritizes optical performance - without compromise
Outstanding resolving power and minimized chromatic aberration help make the 85mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art the ultimate lens for portraits.
To create an 85mm F1.4 lens that delivers such top performance, SIGMA used its latest innovations in design and materials. The result is the ultimate lens for portraits. This lens reduces chromatic aberrations to an absolute minimum, delivering performance beyond anything known, including stunning resolution and gorgeous bokeh.
Image quality - perfect for high-resolution digital cameras
There are now full-frame DSLRs in the ultra-high megapixel range with resolutions of 50 or more megapixels, and nothing brings out the performance potential of these cameras better than the performance of the lens. The SIGMA 85mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art incorporates two elements of SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass, as well as one element with anomalous partial dispersion and a high refractive index. These features contribute to a clear image across the entire image plane. In addition, the optical design minimizes sagittal coma, enabling superior image quality without any streaking - even at wide open apertures.
SIGMA's fifth F1.4 lens for full-frame sensors
Among the new product lines, this is SIGMA's fifth F1.4 lens for cameras with full-frame sensors. SIGMA is the only lens manufacturer whose product line covers focal lengths from 20mm to 85mm with a speed of F1.4. The new lens showcases SIGMA's experience with these specifications and its commitment to offering only the best at all times.
A wonderful bokeh that only a lens with a large aperture can offer
SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements and optimized power distribution help minimize color aberration. In the areas in front of and behind the focus point, the optical system delivers an attractive and natural bokeh, with an absolutely smooth focus gradient, virtually without streaking.
2. A completely new lens that makes clever use of SIGMA's latest design technologies
Newly developed HSM for fast AF
The newly designed HSM (Hyper-Sonic Motor) delivers 1.3 times the speed of its predecessor. Even at low speeds, it offers exceptionally stable performance, and the improved AF algorithm contributes to fast autofocus. What's more, thanks to the Manual Override function, turning the focus ring on the lens allows you to switch to manual focus even in focus tracking AF mode. This way, the perfect focus point is found quickly without having to operate the focus switch first.
3. Other features
Compatible with the MC-11 port converter
