Standard wide-angle zoom with large aperture 

The focal length range already starts at 24 mm and this particularly large angle enables shots from quite unusual and impressive perspectives. However, the universal zoom range also makes it possible to use it for a variety of other shooting situations, so that, for example, the upper range of 70 mm already offers good conditions for portrait photography. Due to the rounded design of the iris diaphragm, the constant input aperture of 2.8 allows for a very fine bokeh.

In addition, the aperture range between 2.8 and 22 opens up a wide range of possibilities for playing with depth of field. Furthermore, a locking lever prevents the lens barrel from unintentionally coming out when the camera is carried downward.

Fast focus thanks to SDM motor

The new wide-angle zoom lens HD PENTAX-D FA 24-70mm F/2.8 ED SDM WR is equipped with the latest generation Supersonic Direct Drive (SDM). In conjunction with the cameras designed for it, this enables fast and virtually silent focusing for prompt reaction in special situations.

Weatherproof construction 

The most interesting shots are always taken where the camera and lens stay better wrapped. However, many special seals effectively prevent the penetration of dust and moisture, so that the lens, in combination with the equally weatherproof PENTAX SLR cameras, is ideally equipped for use in rain, snow or on stormy days at the seaside.

HD coating for optimum light transmission and minimum reflection

The lens elements of this lens feature the multi-layer HD (High Definition) coating developed by PENTAX, which offers significantly higher light transmission with low reflection compared to conventional coatings. This enables maximum contrast and sharpness without flare and ghosting even in difficult conditions such as backlighting. 

Quick-Shift focus system for fast, manual focusing in AF mode

With the Quick-Shift Focus System developed by PENTAX, it is possible to focus quickly by hand without tedious switching when the image situation requires it.
