The HD PENTAX-D FA 70-210 mm F4 ED SDM WR is a compact and lightweight telephoto zoom lens that is the perfect companion for any photo trip. With its small dimensions and a weight of just 819 grams, RICOH IMAGING is responding to feedback from many PENTAX photographers who wanted a handier ?light version? of the successful PENTAX-D FA* 70-200mm F2.8 ED DC AW. As a result, the new lens with its wide focal length range is suitable for a wide range of applications, such as travel, sports, reportage, wildlife or landscape photography.
Compact and lightweight telephoto zoom lens for universal use
The lens construction, with a total of 20 elements in 14 groups, includes three ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements and two anomalous dispersion glass elements. This compensates equally for distortion, coma and chromatic aberration, and creates the conditions for high-contrast images with high resolution and sharpness right to the edge of the image. Thanks to internal focusing, the overall length of the lens barrel remains constant, which significantly simplifies handling in many shooting situations. The minimum focusing distance of just 0.95 meters, with a magnification factor of 0.32, also opens up many possibilities for interesting close-ups, e.g. of animals and plants, with a beautiful bokeh effect (defocusing) in the foreground and background.

HD coating for high brilliance
The HD PENTAX-D FA 70-210 mm F4 ED SDM WR is equipped with the latest HD (High Definition) coating. Compared to conventional multi-layer coatings, this coating, developed exclusively by PENTAX, not only improves light transmission but also reduces the average reflectance in the visible light range by more than 50 percent. This minimizes the adverse effects of flare and ghosting ? even in challenging backlit lighting conditions.
