Ready for nighttime shoots

Thanks to this camera's mesmerizing light output, you can shoot in any light. Across the entire ISO range, you'll get clear full-frame images when shooting stills and brilliant results when shooting video. With a lens speed of 1:2, the "low light autofocus" now works down to a light value of ?6 EV. This means that a quarter moon in the sky is sufficient for focusing. 

So much faster

Hybrid AF with extremely wide field coverage captures the subject precisely. You can shoot up to 14 fps at full resolution with full AF support and auto exposure. When speed matters, and it really always does , you'll capture the scenes that others miss.

Whatever you do with light, now it's faster and smoother. Two EXPEED processors double the available power from autofocus to buffer capacity. The conversion is silky smooth, in filming as in photography. 

More speed - longer

The faster high-performance buffer makes it possible to shoot up to 200 JPEGs or 124 images in uncompressed 12-bit RAW format in one shooting series. You won't miss a second thanks to the high frame rate, and the two EXPEED engines write data at lightning speed. 

Always on

You're shooting interviews - The camera can be powered via a USB Type-C cable and the battery can even be charged while shooting. This camera can also last through long shoots.

Portrait shooting

The optional MB-N11 multi-function handgrip has built-in controls for portrait shooting. Plus, the batteries can be replaced without having to turn off the camera.

If you're a videographer, this is your Nikon. The full-frame sensor and readout of all pixel information provides greater dynamic range and also sharper, clearer movie footage. Focusing speed and tracking sensitivity during movie shooting are configurable, and Eye AF and Animal Detection AF are available when shooting movies. Flexible frame rates create new possibilities. Movie recordings can be output to external devices if required.

RAW via HDMI

Maximum control during post-processing. Faster transfer rates. You can connect a compatible external ATOMOS recorder to the Z 6II to export movies in ProRes RAW® format, which preserves all the data from the camera's full-frame sensor in smaller files.

10-bit HDMI output

More color grading flexibility. When you shoot movies with 10-bit color depth, billions more in color can be recorded than with the standard 8-bit color depth. With the Z 6II, you can write 10-bit output directly to an external recorder via HDMI.

HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma)

Time-consuming color grading is a thing of the past, and video recordings can be played back directly on HDR screens. The camera's HLG recording format captures more detail, greater dynamic range, and higher contrast, eliminating the need for post-processing.

Remote release

With the optional WR-R11b and WR-1 wireless remote controllers, you can shoot remotely or control external flash units like the SB-5000.

High-speed flash units

You can also use external flash units at high frame rates of up to 14 fps. Create more depth and dimension by illuminating the entire frame.

Lenses with F bayonet

The FTZ bayonet adapter establishes compatibility with over 300 NIKKOR lenses with F bayonet. These range from fast fixed focal lengths to super-telezooms.

Memory card slots ensure a smooth workflow

Shape your workflow with the two memory card slots. Separate stills from movies or RAW from JPEG. Copy files between cards. Configure the trays as overflow reserves or instant backups. You can use UHS-II SD cards in one compartment and XQD or state-of-the-art ultra-fast CFexpress cards in the other.
