The XF16mmF2.8 R WR has been specially designed for use on the X-TRANS CMOS sensors developed by FUJIFILM. Despite its light weight and handy size, it achieves exceptionally high imaging performance due to its sophisticated optical design. 

In terms of technology and form, the weather-sealed XF16mmF2.8 R WR is in line with the other compact premium fixed focal lengths in the XF series, which feature rugged construction and stylish design. 

The body is splash-proof and dust-proof, so the lens can be used in a variety of demanding shooting situations, such as in bad weather or dusty environments. It also features a particularly fast, precise and quiet internal focusing system controlled by a powerful stepper motor. 

High-resolution imaging performance

The optical design comprises 10 elements in 8 groups, including 2 aspherical lenses. The targeted arrangement of the individual elements ensures uniformly high imaging performance from the center to the edges, as well as effective minimization of aberrations.

Compact, lightweight and stylish design

In the lineup of compact XF fixed focal lengths, the XF16mmF2.8 R WR offers the widest angle of view. Yet it weighs only 155 grams and has a very compact design with a length of 45.4 millimeters. The aperture and focus rings are pleasantly damped in favor of high operating comfort. The aperture ring also locks into place with a precise click when rotated. With its rugged, high-quality metal body, the lens also perfectly matches the design of the other premium fixed focal lengths in the XF series (XF23mmF2 R WR, XF35mmF2 R WR and XF50mmF2 WR).

Fast and silent autofocus

The AF system's fast and silent internal focusing is based on a powerful stepper motor that uses an electromagnetic pulse to move the lightweight focus group in the center and rear of the lens to the correct position at lightning speed.

Dustproof and weatherproof housing

The lens barrel is carefully sealed at nine critical points, making the XF16mmF2.8 R WR impervious to dust and splashing water. It has also been designed to remain fully operational in freezing temperatures down to minus 10 degrees Celsius. When used in conjunction with a FUJIFLM camera body (e.g. X-Pro2, X-T1/T2/T3 or X-H1) that is also weather sealed, photographers can shoot in light rain and dusty environments without worry.
