A fast telephoto zoom lens with a maximum aperture of F2.8, covering the particularly popular focal length range of 76mm to 214mm. The lens features the latest technology and is superbly sealed against dust and moisture, as well as being cold-resistant. Optical design for a telephoto zoom lens with premium image quality

To achieve the best possible image quality in its class, this high-quality telephoto zoom lens uses 23 glass elements in 16 groups, including 5 ED glass elements and 1 Super ED glass element, which is comparable to a fluorite lens. This reduces chromatic aberrations and achieves very high resolving power.

All glass surfaces are coated with FUJIFILM's unique HT-EBC (High Transmittance Electron Beam Coating), which counteracts flare and aperture speckle and ensures brilliant image results. In addition, the newly developed Nano-GI (Gradient Index) coating technology is used, which changes the refractive index between glass and air. This effectively reduces stray light and aperture spots, especially with oblique incident light rays.

As with the other XF lenses, seven rounded aperture blades are used to create a soft bokeh with rounded blur points. The optical design provides beautiful bokeh in both the foreground and background.

The lens is equipped with an internal zoom mechanism, which keeps its overall length constant throughout the focal length range.

When using the lens with an X-series camera, Lens Modulation Optimizer (LMO) technology provides an additional boost to imaging performance. LMO corrects diffraction blur, resulting in sharp imaging across the entire image area and a true-to-life depth effect even at small apertures.

Extremely fast and quiet autofocus thanks to the world's first triple linear motor

Internal focusing ensures extremely fast autofocus. Extremely fast and quiet autofocus is achieved by reducing the weight of the focus lens and using the triple linear motor at 120° intervals around the optical axis.

The faster autofocus is available when the lens is used with an X camera equipped with phase detection AF. Combined with the near-silent shutter, it is possible to shoot unnoticed even in quiet places.

The autofocus uses a signal that comes directly from the image sensor. This results in extremely precise focusing.

The lens is excellent for macro photography, as the shortest focusing distance over the entire focal length range is only 1 meter.

Because each section of the barrel has been separately sealed, the lens is weatherproof, dustproof, and cold-resistant down to -10° Celsius. It is therefore the perfect complement to the FUJIFILM X-T1, whose body is comparably well protected.

High build quality and easy operation

The metal lens barrel and focus and aperture rings represent the highest build quality. The surface of the lens and the damping of the adjustment rings allow very comfortable operation during shooting. This demonstrates FUJINON's many years of experience and extensive know-how in the manufacture of professional high-end optics for TV and motion picture use. The lens mount is made of durable brass alloy.
The combination of lens and camera weighs only about 60 percent of what a full-frame system camera weighs. The photographer's carrying load is therefore significantly lower.

The AF+MF function allows manual readjustment seamlessly following autofocus. After automatic focusing (AF) with the shutter release button pressed halfway, the focus can be finely readjusted via the focus ring.
