The autofocus is based on a linear motor, which ensures fast and quiet focusing. It is dust and weatherproof and operates without problems in temperatures as low as -10°C. Low distortion with high resolving power.

With a focal length of 18mm (equivalent to 35mm format), this super wide-angle lens is ideally suited for landscape and architectural photography. The optical construction includes 15 elements in 12 groups including two aspherical lenses, one Super ED and three ED glass elements. This design suppresses distortion commonly found in conventional wide-angle lenses with an angle of view of 99.9 degrees. The Super ED and ED elements have also been arranged to optimally correct chromatic aberrations, contributing significantly to the uniformly high resolution performance throughout the image.

Nano GI coating

The front lens is coated with a Nano GI coating to prevent light rays from entering the interior of the lens at an angle. Despite the super-wide-angle focal length, flare and reflections are effectively suppressed.

Fast and quiet AF

Due to the internal focusing, a lightweight focus unit is required, which is controlled by a linear motor. The result is quiet and fast autofocus.
