Hybrid Image Stabilizer

The new image stabilizer is optimally designed for installation in a macro lens. In addition to detecting changes in the shooting angle and compensating accordingly, as most image stabilizers do, the lens also corrects for shifts. This allows for longer shutter speeds: up to two stops at 1x magnification, up to three stops at 0.5x magnification, and up to four stops at normal shooting.

UD (Ultra-low Dispersion) lens for outstanding imaging quality

The integration of a UD lens effectively eliminates chromatic aberrations. It is largely responsible for outstanding imaging quality with high resolution, pronounced contrast and excellent color reproduction.

Adjustment range limit switch

A three-position adjustment range limit switch expands the photographer's latitude. Setting limits for close-ups, distant subjects, and all subjects are ideal for speeding up automatic focusing - important when there is little time to shoot.

The circular aperture gives shots an attractive, uniform background blur; this is ideal for shooting at wide apertures when subjects need to stand out from the background with image impact.

Fast and quiet autofocus

The ring USM (ultrasonic motor) ensures fast and virtually silent autofocus. Alternatively, manual focusing can be performed at any time without having to turn off the AF function. The lens has a close focus distance of approx. 0.3 m.
