8K Cinema full-frame video camera

The full-frame sensor delivers incredible detail with minimized image noise. It enables 8K video capture at up to 30 frames per second (or 60 frames per second with external power), 4K/Full HD content with oversampling, and immersive 4K slow-motion capture at up to 120 frames per second. 

Ultimate 8K quality, ultimate creative expression

The EOS R5 C shoots stunning 8K DCI RAW video at 12-bit, using the full width of its full-frame sensor for a true cinematic look. With four times the detail of 4K, the EOS R5 C delivers outstanding 8K footage at up to 30fps. With external power, the EOS R5 C even shoots 8K video at up to 60 fps, opening up entirely new creative possibilities in post-production. The entire full-frame 8K sensor is also used to oversample 4K or Full HD footage, providing exceptional clarity with low noise. 

4K at up to 120 fps with autofocus and sound

In addition to the EOS R5 C's powerful 8K capabilities, it can also record 4K content at up to 120 fps - for stunning slow-motion footage with breathtaking detail. While shooting in this mode, the EOS R5 C maintains Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus functionality to ensure that every frame is sharp. In addition, audio recording can also be activated when shooting at high frame rates. 

Dual Base ISO

The EOS R5 C is the first Cinema EOS camera with Dual Base ISO functionality. Dual Base ISO extends sensitivity and minimizes noise when shooting in low-light environments. ISO 800/3,200 is available when shooting in Canon Log 3, and ISO 400/1,600 when shooting in BT.709 Wide DR, PQ and HLG. Selecting the optimal base ISO values for a given lighting scenario ensures the widest possible dynamic range with reduced image noise. You can also set [Auto Select] to have the camera switch the base ISO values automatically.

Switch to incredible high-resolution photos

The EOS R5 C's full-frame sensor, along with the DIGIC X processor, delivers incredibly high-resolution photos at up to 20 fps with electronic shutter, or up to 12 fps with mechanical shutter. The EOS R5 C's photo mode also features Canon's renowned Dual Pixel CMOS AF II technology, natural warm colors, and ISO sensitivity up to ISO 52,000, which also makes the EOS R5 C an exceptional solution for professional photography. 

Professional file formats

The EOS R5 C features the architecture of the EOS R system, allowing it to capture photos in a variety of professional file formats, including RAW, C-RAW and JPEG. Thanks to the use of PQ HDR gamma and BT.2020 color space, 10-bit HEIF photos can also be captured with a wider dynamic range and better color reproduction. 

Time-lapse photography

The interval timer function of the EOS R5 C can be set to capture a specified number of images within a specified time. This feature is perfect for capturing professional time-lapse sequences. In addition, custom picture modes can also be set, as well as aperture/auto or auto-ISO, giving full creative control when creating stunning time-lapse images 

Flexible lens selection thanks to RF bayonet

Thanks to the RF bayonet, the EOS R5 C is compatible with a wide range of lenses. These include the most advanced RF lenses, and with the EF-EOS R adapters, EF and Cinema lenses as well. The advanced 5-axis electronic IS ensures smooth and stable professional shots. 

RF Bayonet Technology

The RF Bayonet enables new lens designs that combine large apertures, high-resolution optics and state-of-the-art performance features to create unique lenses for film and still photography. The 12-pin RF bayonet expands the range of communication between lens and camera, optimizing autofocus, image stabilization and control options - making RF lenses the ideal choice for video shooting. 

EF-EOS R adapters for even more creativity

The RF bayonet is also compatible with Canon EF Cinema and Photo lenses, thanks to a variety of Canon EF-EOS R adapters. When shooting video, the adapter with insert filter holder and variable ND filter can be used to achieve wonderfully attractive background blur even in bright environments.

Advanced Electronic Image Stabilization

The EOS R5 C features the same advanced 5-axis electronic IS found in professional Cinema EOS cameras such as the EOS C500 Mark II, EOS C300 Mark III and EOS C70. This advanced technology works in conjunction with the optical IS in compatible lenses to ensure stable and steady shooting. In addition, electronic IS is also available when using lenses without IS, such as Cinema fixed focal lengths and zooms.

Extensive Anamorphic Support

The EOS R5 C also supports the use of anamorphic lenses with third-party adapters. With 2x, 1.8x and 1.3x image expansion on the LCD and HDMI output, the EOS R5 C offers even more flexibility in lens selection for creative movie shooting.

Canon's breakthrough Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology with Eye Detection AF and EOS iTR AF X ensure precise focusing - even when the subject is facing away from the camera. Innovative Dual Pixel Focus Assist helps users manually focus for razor-sharp shots. 

Advanced autofocus with Scene Recognition

Canon's Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology is widely known in the industry as the system that professional filmmakers and photographers can always rely on. The EOS R5 C features an optimized version of this system with AF Eye Detection and EOS iTR AF X. This technology uses an advanced Deep Learning algorithm that accurately detects faces even when only one eye is visible, and continues to focus on a person even when they turn away from the camera. 

Professional autofocus settings

The EOS R5 C features the same exclusive autofocus settings as other Cinema EOS cameras. These include settings like [Face Only] and [Face Priority] that let you specify exactly how the camera responds to changes in the scene. Autofocus speed and response can be customized for slow tracking for a cinematic look or fast focus changes for fast-paced action. 

Dual Pixel Focus Assist

Canon's Dual Pixel CMOS AF system can also be used when focusing manually. Focus Assist is a precise and innovative tool that visually informs whether the focus is in front of or behind the subject. When the Focus Assist visual aid glows green on the LCD or in the viewfinder, the subject is perfectly focused. 

CINEMA RAW LIGHT

Extensive professional shooting formats and tools

Numerous recording formats are available for recording, including three Cinema RAW Light options, plus XF-AVC and MP4. Canon Log 3, PQ and HLG recording are available for extended dynamic range, and professional tools such as Waveform Monitor and False Color are also available. 

Versatile internal recording formats

The EOS R5 C is capable of recording 12-bit RAW video with Cinema RAW Light and up to 2.6 Gbps internally. Three Cinema RAW Light options are available on the EOS R5 C: LT (Light), ST (Standard) and HQ (High Quality). This provides optimal flexibility for workflow integration.
In addition, numerous other professional recording options are available, including 4:2:2 10 bit formats such as Canon's reliable XF-AVC in ALL-I or Long GOP at up to 810 Mbps, HEVC MP4 at up to 540 Mbps, and 4:2:0 8 bit H.264 MP4 at up to 150 Mbps.
In addition, there are crop options from 8K full-frame to 5.9K Super 35mm and 3K Super 16mm, for compatible lenses and reduced data rates. 

Exceptional dynamic range

PQ, HLG as well as Canon Log 3 are available in the EOS R5 C for internal recording. This provides exceptional dynamic range, preserving detail in both shadows and highlights. Both PQ and HLG deliver content in HDR-ready formats for film and television in the BT.2020 color space, while Canon Log 3 provides creative flexibility for grading in post-production. 

Dual memory cards and simultaneous shooting

Two memory card slots (1 x CFexpress Type B / 1 x UHS-II SD) enable diverse simultaneous recording options, with cards each capable of storing different formats, resolutions and bit depths to support a variety of professional workflows. Conventional 4:2:0 8 bit proxy recording and simultaneous/continuous recording are of course also possible. 

External 8K RAW recording via HDMI

The EOS R5 C is capable of outputting up to 10-bit 8K ProRes RAW recording at up to 30 frames per second via HDMI to compatible Atomos recorders such as the NINJA V+. XF-AVC proxies can also be simultaneously recorded to the SD card for efficient post-production workflows. 

Professional tools for movie recording

The EOS R5 C has a comprehensive range of professional tools for film shooting, such as a Waveform Monitor for analyzing the brightness of an image from left to right and False Color for visually representing exposure using a color scale. Other features include true 24p DCI recording, a 180-degree shutter angle, Look File support for importing 3D LUTs, and timecode input/output. 

SMALL CINEMA CAMERA

Compact, lightweight design with active cooling

The EOS R5 C is a compact and lightweight Cinema EOS camera with an OLED viewfinder, a bright, rotating and tilting LCD display and 13 configurable buttons. A new active cooling system enables video recording with long recording time, while the magnesium alloy body provides professional durability. 

Internal cooling system for long recording times

The EOS R5 C features an active cooling system that efficiently dissipates heat from the body, enabling long-time recording at 8K resolution up to 60p. The [Always On] and [Auto] fan options allow users to minimize potential fan noise during recording. 

Intuitive design with touch LCD and 13 configurable buttons

The EOS R5 C features a high-resolution 0.5-inch OLED viewfinder for precise image viewing, a dot-matrix display for quick review of camera settings and modes, and a bright 3.2-inch rotating and tilting LCD that can be viewed from multiple angles during day and night.
The ultra-compact design of the EOS R5 C features 13 configurable buttons and three digital dials. These items can be programmed via a new user interface to provide quick access to favorite video/photo functions such as waveform monitor, autofocus or high frame rate. 

Compact, rugged and lightweight

Weighing just 680 grams, the EOS R5 C is Canon's most compact and lightweight Cinema EOS camera, while maintaining the same high-quality finish and comfortable ergonomics as the EOS R5. 

Wide range of connectivity options

In addition to the multi-function accessory shoe, the EOS R5 C offers connections for XLR / stereo microphone as well as dedicated jacks for timecode, 3.5mm microphone input, headphones, micro-HDMI, flash sync, USB-C, and also supports various software applications - the EOS R5 C is truly ready for anything. 

Multifunction accessory shoe

First introduced on the XF605 camcorder and EOS R3, the Multi-Function Accessory Shoe enables data communication and direct power to a range of new accessories. These include Canon's DM-E1D stereo microphone and TASCAM's Audio XLR2d-C adapter, which features professional XLR inputs with manual control, monitoring and 48 V phantom power. Existing speedlites and triggers can also be connected.*

* Canon speedlites with weather protection are not supported. 

Professional interfaces

Connectivity options on the EOS R5 C include timecode input and output, a 3.5 mm microphone input, headphone output, micro-HDMI output, flash sync, an N3 jack for remote control, and a USB-C port for power, charging, and communications. A cable protector is included to secure both the USB-C and micro-HDMI ports during recording.

Battery grip and wireless file transmitter

Existing accessories for the EOS R system, such as the BG-R10 Battery Grip and WFT-R10 Wireless File Transmitter, are also supported by the EOS R5 C. While both accessories can accommodate two batteries each (LP-E6NH, LP-E6N or LP-E6), the WFT-R10 expands network functionality with two 2x2 5 Ghz antennas and Ethernet connectivity. Although the EOS R5 C has built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, these accessories are required to use the Browser Remote and Content Transfer Mobile App wirelessly.

Comprehensive support for software applications

The EOS R5 C combines the Cinema EOS and EOS R systems, and offers compatibility with a wide range of professional film, photo and virtual reality applications for mobile devices and computers. This includes Browser Remote for access to advanced settings and live image viewing remotely. The Content Transfer Mobile app enables proxy file transfer and metadata editing. Cloud service image.canon provides reliable backup of recordings.

External power source for 8K/60p

In addition to LP-E6NH/LP-E6N/LP-E6 batteries, the EOS R5 C can also be powered by an external power source (external power is required for 8K shooting at frame rates higher than 30p). Supported power sources include USB-C power via the PD-E1 adapter, and the combined use of the CA-946 AC adapter and DR-DE6C DC coupler. Third-party USB-C power banks can also be used for power.
