The GF35-70mmF4.5-5.6 WR covers the most commonly used focal length range from 35mm wide-angle to 70mm standard focal length. Converted to 35 mm format, this corresponds to a focal length range of 28 to 55 mm. The lens is thus suitable for a wide range of shooting situations, for example in landscape, portrait, street and reportage photography.

The lens offers the second shortest closest focusing distance of all GFX series lenses. The smallest focusing distance is 35 cm, so that objects can be photographed at a distance of only 25 cm from the front lens. This allows expressive close-ups - either with the wide-angle focal length, for an increased sense of depth with a large image area, or with the standard focal length, for a natural perspective with proportions that correspond to the normal viewing impression.

The optical construction of the GF35-70mmF4.5-5.6 WR includes eleven elements in nine groups. An aspherical lens and two ED lenses minimize spherical and chromatic aberrations and provide exceptionally high resolving power from the wide-angle position.
